An awesome collection of prophetic activations

As the director of a school of supernatural ministry I was looking for a book of prophetic activations to use with my classes. This fits the bill admirably. For those who are not familiar with "activation exercises" they are activities that are usually done in the safe environment of the classroom that focus on equipping the student with supernatural tools through practice.

Some of these activations are perfect for an individual to use by himself or herself. I have assigned some as "homework": Creative Prophetic Writing, Family Ties, Phone-a-Friend Prophecy, Prophetic Name Badges, and Social Networks and Words of Knowledge.

Most are more suitable for use in the classroom, or among a group of friends that want to activate the gifts of Word of Knowledge and Prophecy. Some of those that I have used and highly recommend are: Atmospheric Gift, Favorite Bible Character, How God Touched Me, Internal Triggers, No Christianese Please, Popcorn Prophecy, Prophetic Gift Exchange, Psalm 23 Prophecy, Secret Friend Prophetic Letter, Table of Triggers, Thirty-Second Drill, and White Elephant Prophetic Gift Exchange.

With sixty-one activations to choose from, you are surely going to find some that are just right for you.

This is a workbook. It is designed for people who want to step into the Gift of Prophecy but don't know how. Dan's clear writing directs the reader to numerous different ways that God can trigger a prophetic word so that the 'average christian' can speak the heart of God into someone else's life.
It is very clearly written and the results are powerful in action. Deeply meaningful. Life changing.

Dan McCollam has taken a very practical and understandable approach to teaching a subject something that can be very confusing and intimidating. Very good tile set

First, this is a great tile set and it's referenced very often in D&D modules and other publications.

Second, it's out of print which is why everyone is gouging the price on it so much. I looked everywhere to find this product cheaper but generally you're very lucky to find it under $30 now (it first sold for ~$10).

Third, some of these pieces have been repeated in other tile sets, but overall I'm still very glad I have this one because the pieces are pretty versatile as a full set. The quality of the graphics are very good.

A Great Value for $10

If you love D&D and 4E, spend your spare $10 on this rather than on the Dungeons & Dragons Character Record Sheets: Roleplaying Game Character Sheets, 4th Edition. You'll find these tiles much more useful and a much better value. And unlike the latter, this one actually underexaggerates its page count (says "1", but there are 6 two-sided tile sheets with over 40 tiles, large and small). Although "Halls of the Giant Kings" begins a new Dungeon Tiles product line, you won't find it much different than the previous "DT" line of tiles. Just a new new style cover, but the tiles have the same weight and texture as previous releases.

Although, as the title indicates, the illustrations of many of the tiles suggest scenarios for halls of, um, giant kings, a good number of them are very generic stone floors, objects, rubble, glyphs and so on. This makes DU1 suitable for most simple dungeon crawls, something missing from many recent DT releases now that DT1 is long out of print. In short: great value for the money.

I'd read this for fun!

I am taking CJ 1350 (Introduction to Forensic Science) this semester. As I am almost done with the class and the book, I feel the need to review it. I LOVE THIS BOOK! I will probably end up keeping it as it has valuable information for one with a future in forensic science. I like that it is very modern and very informed with the latest in crime scene processing methods (except it does mention luminol...which doesn't get used that much anymore as it has been found to be highly carcinogenic - but it isn't really a bad thing to mention it!).

This book contains 18 chapters; Ch1: Intro to Crime Scene Investigation, Ch2: The CSI effect, Ch3: Ethics in Crime Scene Investigation, Ch4: Duties of the first responder to the crime scene, Ch5: Specialized personnel and safety considerations, Ch6: Methodological Approach to processing the crime scene, Ch7: The forensic laboratory, Ch8: Fingerprint evidence, Ch9: Trace evidence, Ch10: Blood and Biological evidence, Ch11: Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, Ch12: Impression Evidence, Ch13: Firearms and Ballistic Evidence, Ch14: Arson and Explosive evidence, Ch15: Drug Evidence, Ch16: Digital Evidence, Ch17: Death Investigation, Ch18: Special Scene Considerations.

Whew! A lot of information! But it is put into sequential order and it builds so it is quite easy to read. Not like a normal textbook at all. Each chapter contains plenty of solid information, resources for even more information, pictures (some real and others dramatized), and case examples. At the end of each chapter is a set of (usually 10)blank review questions. The author has a Master of Forensic Science himself, but he gets a lot of his information from numerous other professionals in their respective fields. At the end of the book their is an Index, a glossary, and appendices. I just looked at the back of the book and apparently there is a 'Student Companion Website' that has flashcards, crossword puzzles and word searches.

Anyway, I highly recommend it!

SAME MATERIAL as OTHET EDITION

This is honestly the same book as other editions out there.
The words are same and maybe some pictures are slightly updated yet still teaches the sAME material.
Shouldn't have any issue with this book for class that requires other editions UNLESS the homeworks would be the questions and answers at the end of the chaptERS. They are slightly modified on newer ones.

if you own a Tarot deck...

If you have a Tarot deck you will end up reading for somebody, be it your girlfriend, your brother or your pet. Christiana Gaudet wrote a book that not only helps you to answer all the questions you come across while bringing Tarot to people but the book that is to be your true companion for as long as you use your Tarot deck (i.e, look up the first sentence=for as long as you, even occasionally, read for other people).

To me, the most brilliant technique of the book is in exercises where you draw cards to answer questions about your Tarot business: be it about marketing or fees or mentoring you are going to provide, etc. The author shows you how to interpret them, and provides real life examples.

Conducting the Code of Ethics is the part that I found to be the most timely for the current development of the image of Tarot in the eyes of the world community. It is not a secret that Tarot perceived in a hugely wronged way and there is just one solution: to prove the spiritual core of Tarot and integrity of its readers one client at a time. Developing your own Code of Ethics will help you develop your own set of guidelines, which support you in your element and provide the "safety net" we all need.

This is not a book to read and go through exercises just once. I believe this is a true companion book for the length of your professional career as a Tarot reader or Teacher or a person who talks Tarot with others: doing the exercises on regular basics, once a year perhaps, will help you to discover new avenues of your business, ways to increase your Tarot income, nuances of your devotion to the Spirit and self, ways to connect with others and share the wisdom of the cards.

The lessons in this book are: Structuring your Tarot business; your professional Code of Ethics; structuring a professional reading; difficult clients, questions and cards; growing as a Tarot Reader; mentoring and teaching; appearances and performances; fostering acceptance in local communities. You will also find essays on Tarot art and history, practical exercises, meditations and 15 years of professional wisdom of the Certified Tarot Grandmaster Christiana Gaudet.

I highly recommend this book to everybody who ever plans to give a reading to another person.

Tarot As A Profession

Gaudet has organized this book into eight sections, or lessions: (1) Business Structure, (2) Code of Ethics, (3)Stucturing A Professional Reading,(4) Difficult Clients/Questions/Cards, (5) Growing As A Tarot Reader, (6) Mentoring and Teaching, (7) Appearnaces and Performances, and (8) Fostering Acceptance In Local Communities. Each chapter/lesson includes exercises and short articles associated with the material from that chapter/lesson.

Four of Gaudet's students (that are now readers themselves) helped her in actually doing the exercises as an example for the reader. I commend them for this - they did a wonderful job, and a wonderful service, in sharing their wisdom.

While the material covered was exactly what someone needs to know to become a professional reader, I did fell that it could have been covered a bit more in depth. The same goes for the articles - they were a wonderful addition to the book, but should have been expanded.

At the end of the book Gaudet has included contact information for the major Tarot organiations, Tarot conferences, onlne resources and book recommendations.

I feel that the information here will provide a very good start, or foundation, for someone considering becomng a professional Tarot reader. The one drawback is that it really was not as in-depth as it could have been.

Great for Any Spiritually Minded Business Person

Fortune Stellar does something very rare in books about business: it gives great guidance AND helps the reader decide what is important to their business on an individual level. While this book is best suited for those who read Tarot, it is not just for people who wish to be professional readers. I do read professionally, but I found Fortune Stellar equally valuable in defining where I'm going with my online shop and writing career. Includes fantastic Tarot related exercises! Ideal for any spiritual business or spiritually minded business person, as well as anyone who is even thinking about becoming a professional reader and / or psychic. From an author who grew her very successful psychic Tarot business from the bottom up.

A Reference that Really Works

I have learned so much from this book. Holly Brackmann explains not only the how-to aspect of surface design in incredible detail & easy-to-follow steps, but also the how-it-works aspect of the processes. She begins her book with an all-important chapter on safety and then goes on to explain dyes, fibers & fabrics, followed by a chapter on color. Then she gets into explaining not only dyes (e.g., fiber-reactive, acid, vat, and disperse), but also discharging, screen printing, monoprinting, stamping, stenciling, resists, devore, textile painting, & embellishments. I love the clear instructions of the processes and the amazing photos, but what I love the most is that she empowers the user to explore and become profient in the processes. That empowering of the student is the mark of a great teacher.

Wonderful book!

Holly Brackmann's new book The Surface Designer's Handbook is long over-due and I have ordered it as the textbook for all my fibers classes. As soon as it arrived my students all wanted their own personal copy so several of them purchased it outright just on sight alone. The spiral binding is excellent and the extent of the techniques covered is wonderful. I teach both beginners and advanced fibers students and this book has everything we need as a textbook.

I use it myself for my own work and find it very helpful, well organized and thorough. The information about making color cards with diluted MX dye on watercolor paper is worth the selling price all by itself. It is a technique I knew nothing about and I am thrilled to learn about it. It has saved hours and hours of dye testing time.

In my classes we had been using Kate Wells' book Fabric Dyeing and Printing and prior to that, Proctor and Lew's Surface Design for Fabric. Now, 16 years later, Holly's excellent book has arrived and is the handbook of the hour. It is up to date, comprehensive and thorough, and should be in everyone's library that works with dyes, textile paints and cloth. It improves on and surpasses every handbook published to date and encompasses a massive amount of information.

I look forward to using it in my classes for many years to come and I salute Holly for the enormous amount of work that went into creating this book. She has provided a gift for the entire surface design community both here and abroad.

Instruction and inspiration all in one volume

Holly Brackmann's beautifully produced new book, The Surface Designer's Handbook: Dyeing, Printing, and Creating Resists on Fabric, is both a "how to" and a "why." Drawing on her many years' experience as a fiber artist and a college-level textile arts instructor, Brackmann covers the topics promised in the title of her book--and then some--in an encyclopedic manner. Chapters on the different topics begin with readable summaries of the historical and technological development of the process. Clear and detailed recipes and instructions for each process enable beginners to proceed step by step to successful and rewarding results as well as remind the more experienced of pitfalls to watch out for and enhancements to experiment with. The attractive arrangement of a hidden spiral binding is a practical element that enables the user to keep the book open to a particular page while working. Safety considerations, helpful hints, and other useful lists are set apart in different type and colored boxes for easy reference. The "why" comes in with the hundreds of excellently reproduced photographs of the work of Brackmann and many other fiber artists. These illustrations make the book an inspiration to artists as well as a delight for all others interested in the scope and range of textile arts today.
