A unique and well written book

"Ethical Argument: Critical Thinking in Ethics" is one of the most unique books of philosophy available today. Its uniqueness is based in the dual purpose of the book: teaching the techniques of critical thinking in conjunction with theories of ethics. While most ethics textbooks and anthologies simply offer the theories of ethics from antiquity onward from source documents alone, without any framework for making sense of, or method for comparing one set of precepts against another, this book does not do that. The author gives the reader a course in the techniques of critical thinking, which serve as that framework. In a sense, the author kills two birds with one stone.
Most teaching in ethics is done formally, that is to say, theories are presented without any real world context. Most education experts would say that form without context is not a good way to teach any subject matter. This is another area in which this book shines. The theories are placed with the context of examples, stories, and scenarios by the author. By giving the theories a context, the author has provided teachers and students alike with a valuable tool in the study of both subjects.
The book is clearly written, with many helpful (and in some cases funny) illustrations and comic strips. It serves as a very good secondary textbook in any ethics class.
